The Finance Committee is an advisory body to the Pastor, required by Canon Law. At Santa Teresa Church in San Jose, the committee helps support responsible stewardship by reviewing parish financial information and offering guidance on the material and financial resources of the parish.
What the committee does
Finance Committee members:
- Review parish financial statements and reports
- Discuss trends, questions, and upcoming needs related to parish operations and ministries
- Advise the Pastor to support prudent planning, transparency, and good governance
- Help ensure parish resources are used carefully and in alignment with diocesan guidelines
Accountability and annual reporting
In the spirit of accountability, Santa Teresa Church provides the community with a financial summary once each year. In addition, a self-audit is completed at the end of each fiscal year following guidelines from the Diocese of San Jose. Finance Committee members participate in this self-audit process to help confirm that records and practices are accurate and complete.
Meeting schedule
The Finance Committee meets once each quarter, and may meet more often if needed.
